my shoes from Tom’s came!
2 weeks ago I made up my mind to finally place an order on these cute little Tom’s. I saw a girl wearing them on the street near my job and fell in love with them! These are my first pair of Tom’s and I will definitely be buying more. They are much more comfortable than I expected! I thought they would only be canvas but they have a nice leather insole and require zero breaking in. Plus, with every pair sold, they will give a child in need a pair of shoes as well!
thank you to the nice guy at godaddy.com for helping me with my site issues! i did not catch your name, but thanks!
thomas the skeleton and sammy the squirrel!
after spending the day at various flea markets around brooklyn, dan and i decided to make a stop at michael’s. there we wound up finding our activity for the night! i chose the squirrel and dan chose the skeleton.
Farewell, M+O!
on tuesday, my company closed unexpectedly. i worked for Martin + Osa, a brand that was part of the American Eagle family. it was a really sad day and i will certainly miss all the people i worked with. it was a great company filled with talented, passionate people and i will miss being a part of that team.
however, i decided that instead of panicking and being sad, i am going to make the best of this situation. i am going to do things i enjoy and be productive. while job hunting, i am going to use my free time to:
-clean (my boyfriend will love this!)
-read! i can’t wait to sit down and read a book. i feel like it has been so long since i have done that. reading, to me, is very relaxing but the only place i am able to do it is on the train… which is not relaxing.
-finish my 5 year plan!
-write down something i love about myself everyday. i got this idea from Gala Daring. i think it will help me to stay positive.
-explore the city, take more photos, get inspired with what’s around me.
even though i am very nervous about finding a new job, i am very very excited to have some time to myself to finally do things i have been thinking about and putting off.
so, goodbye M+O, i’ll miss you. but it’s time to move on to bigger and better things
if you have been or are currently in a similar situation, how did you stay positive? how did you get back on your feet? did you use your free time to do something you’ve always wanted to do? i’d love to hear about it!

this weekend was pretty quiet. on saturday, i ventured out to long island to visit my family. i discovered we have a new cat on our property which my mom has named patches.
on sunday, dan, eric, and i went to see Shutter Island which i really thought was a dud. the directing and acting was good, but i found the story to be a little bit too cliche. to make up for the bad movie, dan bought me this cute little planter! it is holding my little forget-me-nots that were growing too big for its little ceramic pot.
that evening dan and i made a yummy dinner of london broil and veggies and watched the oscars. then i baked some cinnamon buns!
Post-It
my friend erika has a great blog at http://burnedidentity.blogspot.com. she posts people’s little post-it doodles as well as her own amazing illustrations. go and send her a post-it!
coney island in the snow
last weekend, dan and i decided to go on a little adventure after a big snow fall. we went down to coney island and ate at Totonno’s. they are one of the only coal burning oven pizza places left and it was INCREDIBLE!
we headed over to the beach after lunch and took some amazing photos in the snow. it was so empty and beautiful. all the rides were still up and covered in snow (and protected by scary guard dogs). it was also strangely romantic to walk down the vacant boardwalk. dan treated us to delicious marshmallow treats before we went home! yum yum!
long time, no post!
hello!
sorry for the lack of posting! between work and life projects, i have been a bit short on time.
however, i am working on a big redesign soon!
stay tuned!
